In my
Sunday newspaper I read a front page article which talked about how climate
change poses a ‘major risk’ to forests all over the world.
We are
all becoming more and more aware of environmental issues and there are so many
things we can do to help minimise the damage that is being done to our natural
world. Many people are embracing the challenge. For instance, I was fascinated
to watch a TV documentary recently about a family who had managed to recycle
nearly all their household waste in the past year. And in another programme a
couple who had constructed their new home so that it was totally energy self
sufficient.
Thinking
of the disturbing prediction quoted in my newspaper this Sunday, I am reminded
yet again of the power of the Star and the work we can do as a group in
projecting the light to inspire and encourage all environmental workers, as
well as every individual. The power of ‘the group’ is so strong. Thousands of
‘light workers’ all around the globe can truly make a difference. And with this
in mind, on Saturday in the New
Lands Temple
we held a candlelit Earth Hour (linking in with the World Wide Fund for Nature.).
In the
magic of the candlelit
Temple, listening to a soothing
Tibetan bowl concert by Andrew Lyddon, fears melted away and peace filled the
heart. It is so necessary to find this place above all anxieties for our light
work; to let go of the fear which such articles can instil, so that we can be
channels for the highest vibrations. In spite of the gloomy forecasts we may
read in the newspapers, our work with the Star is to keep positive at all
times. We need to do our best individually and collectively at the outer level,
but also be steadfast in our inner work. I truly believe that together we can bring healing for our
beautiful planet.
As White Eagle said some years ago:
‘Do not think in terms of what is going to happen to the earth
regarding wars and disputes and material things. Get above it all and go for
the principle and the truth, the divine law which is behind all manifestations.
Look above, brethren, into the heart of the Star and see only God and the one
true light working through all creation to bring beauty, harmony, love and
perfection.’
