The Source of All Our Strength

I wrote recently about the wonderful way in which we are often led to just the right piece of White Eagle teaching to help us in times of need - almost without even looking for it.

I have heard many stories about this, of a book falling open at a particular page, or dropping out of a bookcase. This morning, I was walking past my bookcase of White Eagle books, when my eye was drawn to the little book of sayings, similar to the Quiet Mind, 'The Source of All Our Strength'. I have not looked at this book for quite a long time, but as I took it out, it fell open at the chapter entitled 'The Power of Silence', and then looking at the introduction, I was reminded that the teachings in this book had been chosen specifically for the purpose of seeking to help those who, in whatever way, feel in need of healing, or wish for healing for a loved one or friend. I am sure this applies to all of us at this particular time!

So in the chapter which opened before my eyes, I read these words, which seem to me a direct message from White Eagle:
'When you are distracted by material things, keep very calm, keep very still. Remember the Brethren of the Silence, whose very power of achievement lies in silence. Touch the silence, and the power of the spirit will flow into you and disperse all your fears.'

One of the gifts of lock down could be the opportunity it is bringing, for those of us who are in isolation, to make more times every day - not just occasionally - when we can 'touch the silence' and receive the spiritual blessing it can bring. In the silence we can perhaps more easily attune to the source of all our strength, the light within our own hearts and the radiant light of the Star pouring down upon us from the Brethren of the Silence.

The Gift of a New Perspective

'If you want to get a clear picutre of any condition in life, don`t try to see things with your nose on them! See them from the highest point, from the plane of spirit, and you will be surprised at how different your problems look', says White Eagle in his book THE QUIET MIND.

In my last blog I wrote that one of the blessings arising from our current challenge of lock down is that the added quietness (with so much less traffic around) is conducive for listening - not only to the outer sounds of nature, but also, maybe even more importantly, to the inner sounds. Some of us, not working on the front line, have more time now to stop and listen to the inner voice and the words of comfort from our loved ones and helpers in the world of spirit, and maybe start to look at our lives in a different way. The time schedules which formerly governed our daily lives may be quite different now, and that can be rather unsettling, as most of us actually like the ritual of our routines!

Earthly time is a puzzling phenomena! We all experience, I am sure, how time can fly by, or seem to go very slowly. Those who are living out of time in the heavenly spheres have a totally different perspective of time, and this is why it is much easier for them to take the long view. I always remember a television programme I was watching years ago with my children when they were young, which was all about perspective. The phrase which has remained with me is 'How things look all depends on where you are when you are looking at them!'

Many of us have the opportunity to look at things from a different perspective now and become clearer about what is really important in our lives and what is not as necessary as we had previously thought.

So, how necessary is the concept of time one may wonder? Many spiritual teachers encourage us not to be bound by earthly time, and I am enjoying being freer of outer earthly appointments than hitherto. However, I believe that a regular routine and structure is important in our earthy living - it is getting the balance right which can be challenging. Something I am finding joyful, is the help the current situation is giving, and the greater freedom to make more regular the inner commitment to our 3, 6, 9, 12 times for sending out the light. Yes - this is truly something we can all do, no matter where, no matter what our outer circustances are, and the Star seems to be shining even brighter than ever before!

Time to Listen

For me, one of the positive outcomes of our present situation in ‘lock down’, is the added quiet it has brought. I am lucky to be living in a peaceful place anyway, but the lack of traffic noise and the busy bustle of people around is very noticeable, and brings a feeling of inner serenity.

A little while ago I wrote ‘…it feels that Mother Earth is taking a sigh of relief!’ It is a like that inner sigh we may often take when a time of stress is over and we have a day of rest. Mother Earth can rest a little now and recover.

When I take my daily exercise I have started to listen even more closely to the sounds of nature all around, and also listen more to the inner silence. With no travelling about, there is more time to listen to the inner voice, more time to hear the voice of wise friends in the inner world, and more time just to be still with the gentle heartbeat of Father, Mother God, feeling His/Her loving care.

Whte Eagle himself offers us so much wise guidance in his books and maybe, like me, you are finding more time now to sit quietly reading. A passage which came to my notice today is this: ‘The brethren of the Great White Lodge are happy because they are at peace, undisturbed by dark happenings. You will say, “Is it right to be undisturbed by the dark things?” Yes, because by maintaining inner peace and letting the light burn steadily within you, you are doing far more good than if you get excited and argumentative about disagreeable conditions. Keep your poise; be steady on your path.’
